The Dutch Shepherd (Hollandse Herder)

The Dutch Shepherd Dog was developed as an all-purpose farm dog, working originally as a farm guard, drover, livestock dog, and for carting. The Dutch Shepherd Dog is very loyal and reliable, always alert, watchful, active, independent, with persistence, intelligence, prepared to be obedient and gifted with the true shepherding temperament.

Although it is not a widely known breed it is a competent working dog used for obedience and dog sports, herding, search & tracking dog, and as a police and security dog.

There are three coat types: Long Haired (LH), as well as Short haired (SH), and Rough (wired) haired (RH). Their color will be either a golden or silver brindle for the Long and Short haired varieties, and salt & pepper is allowed for the Rough haired type.
